painted the tower and antennas because I wanted to keep them as
"neighborhood friendly" as possible. This picture was taken about
100m away from the tower, and I think it shows that the visual impact
can be minimized with a bit of effort. (The tower is roughly 1/4
of the way from the right hand side of the picture). I was able
to detect no adverse effects of the paint on the antennas whatsoever
... the SWR curves match those I got from OptiBeam almost exactly, and
the front-to-back and front-to-side patterns are excellent.
When I was trying to decide which antennas to buy, I did a lot of internet searching to try to find pictures of the various prospects as installed by hams who had bought them. I found a few decent pictures, but not as many as I would have liked. So ... the next several pictures are those I have taken of my OB2-40 atop my OB16-3 as seen from various angles. For those few folks who might be interested in them, you're welcome. My apologies to the rest of you.
